Welcome! I’m Dr. Steve Chee, a quadruple board-certified MD and licensed acupuncturist, with a passion for blending Eastern and Western medicine to support holistic healing.
For nearly two decades, I’ve dedicated my career to exploring the mind-body-spirit connection, integrating the best of modern science with ancient healing wisdom.
Trained and licensed as both an MD and acupuncturist, I’m one of the few in the nation to bridge these worlds—a rarity in medicine, and an honor I hold deeply. My journey in medicine is grounded in the belief that healing is a journey of reconnection—reconnecting with the wisdom of our bodies, the energy of our spirits, and the transformative power of compassion and community.
I invite you to join me in a space where healing isn’t just about relieving symptoms, but about rediscovering your whole self.
As both an MD and acupuncturist, I combine the rigor of Western medicine with the holistic insights of Oriental medicine. Less than 0.5% of acupuncturists are also MDs, making my perspective unique and offering you a rare blend of modalities that honor your entire being.
I’m board-certified in Family Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Medical Acupuncture, and Oriental Medicine. This diverse training allows me to offer an integrative approach that draws from the best of both worlds, tailored specifically to your needs.
Alongside my medical practice, I’m a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist, an evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach. IFS helps you explore the parts of yourself that may be holding onto pain or resistance, offering you a deeper path to self-understanding and healing.
Healing, for me, is not just about finding the right treatment but about creating a space where you feel seen, supported, and empowered. Inspired by Rumi’s words, “Soul, a moving river; body, the riverbed,” I see the body as a vessel that holds the flow of the soul, guiding its path toward balance and alignment.
Together, we will explore both the measurable and intangible aspects of health, allowing true healing to unfold naturally from within. Whether you’re seeking to restore physical balance, make empowered choices for self-care, or embody your authentic Self, I am here to support you every step of the way.
My promise to you: I’m not a “two-minute doctor.” Our first session will be an hour, allowing us to build a relationship, explore your unique needs, and take this journey one step at a time.
With over two decades of experience in the mind-body-spirit field, my journey has been marked by continuous learning, teaching, and presenting. I’ve been privileged to share my knowledge through various prestigious platforms and trainings, helping others discover the transformative power of integrative healing.

1.A Lifelong Learner In addition to my MD, I have a Master’s in Public Health from UCLA, a Master’s in Traditional Oriental Medicine, and a Master’s in Spiritual Psychology. Learning is a passion, and I strive to bring that curiosity to every patient relationship.
2.Inspired by “The Force” Watching Star Wars as a child fueled my fascination with the mind-body relationship. I’ve often thought of Eastern thought as a form of “the Force” that connects us all.
3.A Natural Teacher I love teaching and have served as faculty at the University of Santa Monica’s Spiritual Psychology program for over 10 years. My greatest joy is watching someone learn something new and make it their own.
4.A Heart for Service I’m honored to have received awards for my service in community health, working with underserved communities in Los Angeles. Giving back is an integral part of my journey.
5.A Personal Journey with Pain My own experiences with chronic pain have been my greatest teachers. They’ve taught me the value of safe, natural solutions, and I bring these insights to the care I provide.
6.Acupuncture Enthusiast I’ve needled myself thousands of times—my first instructor insisted that we master self-needling before treating others! This practice has taught me to choose the gentlest, least painful methods first.
7.A Year in Hong Kong I spent a year in Hong Kong between medical school years, working part-time and learning Oriental Medicine. It was inspiring to see traditional practices integrated into modern healthcare.
8.Passionate Gardener Gardening reminds me of medicine—it’s about finding the right environment for each plant (or person) to thrive. Light, water, nutrients—it’s all about nurturance and balance.
9.A Metaphorical Thinker I see science as sheet music—it gives us structure, but the experience of life is the real melody. My approach to medicine combines scientific rigor with an invitation to live with joy, meaning, and purpose.
I believe in a patient-centered approach that is personalized, compassionate, and collaborative. In our work together, you can expect:
• Empowerment: My goal is to help you find the tools and insights that allow you to become an active participant in your own healing.
• Connection: Healing happens best when we feel connected—to ourselves, to others, and to the greater flow of life.
• Authenticity: I create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can bring all parts of yourself to the table.
• A Holistic Approach: We’ll combine Western medical insights with Eastern practices, integrating IFS, acupuncture, integrative medicine, and personalized care.
• Time and Attention: Our sessions are designed to give you the space to be heard and understood, allowing us to build a path forward that aligns with your unique journey.
• Collaboration and Compassion: I’m here to walk alongside you, offering a compassionate, authentic presence as you explore your path to wellness.
